I'm looking to a cost effective solution to upgrade the braking effectiveness of my TF135 MY2002 - 15 "rims 6 spokes, for regular use on the road.
A very common upgrade is based on old Corrado brakes, currently MikeS has no kits available, Corrado production has been discontinued in 1995 IIRC.

In a thread I found reference to Mini discs, so I visited ATE web site and found Mini Cooper S disc either 276 and 280 mm discs , 22mm thick ventilated;
PCD is 100mm with 4 holes, these have to slotted or 4 new holes drilled at 92,5 mm.
The centering diameter on the hub spigot has to be adjusted.
The "bell" height is 44,2 mm vs std 43,2, That should be good, less risk of inteference with the rim spokes (this is the main risk with such kind of diameter upgrading)
2 Z adaptors have to be machined from a block of anticorodal or other equivalent high Quali alu
So up to this point the required modifications are the same that are carried out on the Corrado discs. The "bell" height is 39 mm, so I see a risk of interference i.e. with balancing lead weights.
Prices: on some web sites like French Oscaro I found a couple of ATE or Bosch std 280 mm at less than 40 €, the 276 mm are more expensive.

So I arrive to my question: has some one already evaluated the Mini discs as possible upgrade ? Do you see any issues ?
A part of standard aftermarket discs, there a lot of exotic discs available for Mini tuning, so I see an opportunity also for people looking for higher performances and probably cheaper than purchasing from UK.

I doubt that anyone here tried this before.
Using brake components from another car and modify them to use with the MG is not easy to realize in Germany.

I confirm with Bohli and would suggest to upgrade to AP Brakes, used in the Trophy.
For using this brakes in combination with non-11-Spoke Trophy rims you have to mount adaptor plates (e.g. 10mm) and longer wheel nuts.
But the easiest way would be to buy the 11-Spoke Trophy rims also.
Is much more expensive than the Mini-Solution, but causes much less head ache

The braking performance is much better, than with standard MPI/VVC brakes and I can recommend this upgrade.

Board member "Koch" has often new or used AP brakes in his shop

Indeed, he's driving this shop and I believe they also can supply the famous TAROX brakes.

I got the Tarox breaks on my MPI supplied by Koch, not very cheap though (compared to different solutions), but the performance is simply stunning (so in my mind still a bargain).
Now if you hit the breaks (even after a long downhill run with lots of bends, where the standard-brakes would feel like melting butter in the sun...) the car is actually very easy to control and it feels simply save. Well, if you hit them harder, you should hold yourself tight to the wheel, not to hit it with your head and after the car comes to a complete top, you simply put your face back on and go off again. Just kidding, but it really is a huge difference compared to the stock-parts and not to mention gives a great look, too.
